They must have wanted something. If they wanted the fortress out of the way for an invasion they would have leveled it, not just killed those inside.

Perhaps a further investigation, deeper into the fortress, will reveal the intentions of the Necron. There may be more than we expected to reside here,

(I wanted to suggest an investigation upon the "Control Center" but I honestly am unaware of what the anatomy of a Fortress would be)

(Think like any kind of military base, there wouldn't be a command center per se, but there would be a comms center, and the reactors, etc etc

(Haven't disagreed with anything so far. But I am already more or less viewing this as a siege to retake the fortress, so I'm constantly looking for defensible positions, choke points, high ground, and other strategic locations to have the upper hand in the coming conflict.)

(Spacewolves and Dark angels really don't get along, plus space wolves don't usually respect authority until it is earned. Now obviously that's a generalization but they are defiantly the most.... Unruly of the space marines.)
